Don’t miss episode 10 of the Tung Talk podcast!
This time, we’re venturing slightly outside the usual Tung territory to explore a fascinating diagnostic tool that Shaun has incorporated into his work and teachings: the VAS (Vascular Autonomic Signal), originating from Dr. Paul Nogier’s work in auriculotherapy. This groundbreaking innovation is one Shaun has brought to Master Tung’s acupuncture, pioneering the integration of the VAS into the system and developing it through his own clinical perspective and experience.
The VAS is a subtle change in the pulse that can serve as the body’s feedback. Shaun uses it diagnostically, but also to refine point location and determine which acupuncture points seem most responsive at a particular moment.
Shaun has explored and developed the connection between Master Tung’s acupuncture and the VAS extensively in his clinical work. In this episode, he walks us through the basics: what the VAS actually is, how it differs from traditional Chinese pulse diagnosis, how you begin to feel it, and how he applies it within Master Tung’s system.
We also get into some very Tung-ish questions:
Can the VAS help us choose between different Dao Ma combinations?
Can it help us locate an individual Tung point more precisely?
And can it complement Master Tung’s traditional diagnostic methods?
For Moshe, who doesn’t use the VAS in his own clinical practice, this episode is a chance to be the curious one: asking questions and trying to understand what on earth Shaun is feeling under his fingers.
Whether you already work with the VAS, have heard of it but never quite understood it, or are currently thinking “VAS… what?” — this episode is for you.
Enjoy Episode 10, and let us know what you think!
